Spiritual merit.

Heading out today to weed around a load of fruit trees in the estate. Keeping them tidy so the council grass cutters dont come so close to the trees. We are also going to prune the biggest apple tree I have that was phantom planted by the side of the road in South Belfast approx 10 years ago. Will update with some pics later.

Its amazing how far things have come in 10 years. I know back then I was in the depths of darkness and randomly planting my first ever tree was plugging me into something magical and healing.

And it was healing for me as looking back now it was my intentions I believe. You see when our intentions are pure and selfless apparently this is where you really earn some spiritual merit.

Back then my only intentions was for people to enjoy free apples in their street. I know looking back now that it was not for my ego, as if to say, look at me I planted this tree. It was purely for people to have free food on me.

I just always pondered with the idea that people should be able to pick apples on the side of the road and that I was going to plant an apple tree and see what happens.

10 years later and people are picking apples from this tree every year!

I think a lot about my spiritual path and the whole spiritual merit making idea through acts of selfless generosity.

I've been thinking that when we would say go out and do a good deed, like give a homeless person a meal. That good deed is done and you are said to get good merit from this and then thats it.

But say when you plant an apple tree and year after year people are still benefiting from your act of generosity, does this mean that every time a person eats an apple from your tree in 10 years time that you are still earning merit?

Is planting fruit trees like a growing spiritual merit maker?

Like the more trees you plant the more merit makers you have growing away secretly accumulating good fortune for you and magnifying as time goes on?

Who knows though, just putting some of my thoughts out there!

Back then at the time I planted that tree I was literally looking over my shoulder for the police or men with wooly masks coming for me.

Today I look over my shoulder to smiles and gifts.

I believe this tree made way and helped create the new me today...

Have a great day guys...

Peace and love
